The first major casting news for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 has been revealed with a ‘Harry Potter’ star joining the show…
Jim Broadbent — best known to ‘Harry Potter’ fans as Professor Slughorn or his roles in ‘Time Bandits’ and an Oscar winning performance in ‘Iris’ — has been added to the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7.
Now much like past season of ‘Game of Thrones’ the casting has been rather secretive but it appears Broadbent will play a significant role in the upcoming penultimate season of the show.
During pre-production for season 6, ‘Game of Thrones’ casting directors didn’t let much information at all leak out about which actors were playing what roles. For instance, Ian McShane was cast for a single episode but his character wasn’t actually revealed until his part aired on the show.
So far now Broadbent’s role is still a secret but it appears he’ll play a major part in the upcoming story for season 7.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is being reduced to seven total episodes launching in the summer of 2017 with one final season of the show to go in 2018.
