It’s finally time for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 to get started with filming underway in a couple of locations around the world…
When ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 was first announced, show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss passed along a bit of bad news.
First of all, the seventh season would only be seven total episodes, but because winter has finally arrived in Westeros, ‘Game of Thrones’ would have to push production until much later in the year, which meant the show wouldn’t debut until summer 2017.
Well the cold winds are finally starting to shift around the world and ‘Game of Thrones’ has officially started production for season 7.
According to several sources, actors began arriving in Belfast, Northern Ireland last week with Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Gemma Whalen (Yara Greyjoy), John Bradley (Samwell Tarley), Conleth Hill (Lord Varys) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) all spotted in the local airport arriving in town.
Hafþór Björnsson aka “The Mountain” even posted a photo as he got back into make up for the first time since season 6 ended.

Jessica Henwick (Nym Sand) also posted her arrival in Belfast just a couple of days ago.

Even more sightings from fans around Ireland, who have taken photos with the cast as they arrived in town.
In addition to the cast and crew arriving at the studios in Ireland, stages are currently being set up all over Spain as well with several new locations expected for filming this season. Many of the areas in Spain have been used for Dorne previously and with Daenerys Targaryen making her way to Westeros, that could be a perfect landing spot for her ships and troops once they finally arrive.
It appears ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 production is well underway with filming also expected in Iceland this year.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 will debut on HBO in the summer of 2017.
