Michelle MacLaren — who has directed some of the best episodes of “Game of Thrones”, “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead” — appears to be the leading candidate to direct the upcoming “Wonder Woman” film from DC Comics and Warner Bros.
While no deal is in place yet, The Hollywood Reporter states that MacLaren is close to landing the job after an extensive search looked at several different directors, but ultimately they landed one of television’s real heavyweights.
MacLaren has been a part of some of the best directing on television in the last few years. She played a major part in the final season of “Breaking Bad” as well as the season four finale of “The Walking Dead”.
It might be her work on “Game of Thrones” that ultimately lands her the job, however, as many of the directors from the series have become a hot commodity when it comes to the features game these days. Several of the top directors who have worked on the HBO show have gone on to land major jobs in the film industry including Alan Taylor, who directed “Thor: The Dark World” as well as the upcoming “Terminator: Genysis” film.
“Wonder Woman” is expected to open on June 23, 2017 although the character played by Gal Gadot will first appear in “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice”, which lands in theaters on March 25, 2016.
