George R.R. Martin reveals that at least a few fans have guessed the ending of ‘Game of Thrones’ and he’s not changing anything from his plans…
The ending of ‘Game of Thrones’ as well as the book series the show is based on — A Song of Ice and Fire — haven’t reached the conclusion yet but the creator behind it all knows how the story will end. George R.R. Martin has stated that while he still has two more books to go in the series, he’s already planned out the conclusion to the story as well as the fate of most of his characters.
‘Game of Thrones’ co-creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss know this plan after meeting with the author for several weeks last summer to plan out the show just in case they passed him while the books were still being written or if something unfortunate happened and he passed away before the series came to an end.
Well it appears at least a few fans also know how ‘Game of Thrones’ will end because Martin says that through meeting many of his greatest admirers and hearing their theories about how the series will conclude, some of them have actually guessed correctly.
“So many readers were reading the books with so much attention that they were throwing up some theories and while some of those theories were amusing bulls— and creative, some of the theories are right. At least one or two readers had put together the extremely subtle and obscure clues that I’d planted in the books and came to the right solution,” Martin said recently.
“So what do I do then? Do I change it! I wrestled with that issue and I came to the conclusion that changing it would be a disaster, because the clues were there. You can’t do that, so I’m just going to go ahead. Some of my readers who don’t read the boards, which thankfully there are hundreds of thousands of them, will still be surprised and other readers will say: ‘see, I said that four years ago, I’m smarter than you guys’.”
So start scouring the fan boards where fevered and passionate Game of Thrones fans exist because somebody out there knows who ends up on the Iron Throne when this entire saga comes to an end. It has to be Daenerys, right? Or maybe Jon Snow? How about Stannis? Oh just go read the boards.
