Author George R.R. Martin gives a few teases ahead of the release of his next book ‘The Winds of Winter’ which still doesn’t actually have a release date but get excited regardless…
The long awaited sixth book in the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ series from writer George R.R. Martin still has a big TBD (to be determined) next to its release date but that doesn’t mean the author can’t tease some of the big plot points for the upcoming novel.
With such a long wait between book five and book six — four years at minimum by the time ‘The Winds of Winter’ hopefully comes out in 2015 — Martin has been courteous enough to share a few stories about the upcoming book, which will serve in many ways as the penultimate chapter in the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ saga.
Well that’s assuming he sticks to seven books although he’s teased recently there could be spillover into an eighth book. (Interview courtesy of EW.com, snark is all ours but in reality we love George R.R. Martin, which is why we can’t wait to get our grubby little hands on the book!)
— Two enormous battles will kick off the book. The assumption is at least one of those will involve Ramsay Bolton’s army facing off against Stannis Baratheon in the north. Speculation about the other one has an uprising in Yunkai against Daenerys’ forces in Meereen.
— Another wedding is coming but who is getting married?
— The Dothraki are coming back into the story ‘in a big way’. Leads us to believe, Dany is going to have some reinforcements to her army pretty soon
— Tyrion and Daenerys will meet up during this novel and ‘both are coming home’. Is Dany’s invasion of Westeros finally going to happen?!?
Plenty of reason to get excited for the book, but the release won’t happen until at least next year. In the mean time, Martin will release ‘The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the World of Game of Thrones’ in October.
