George RR Martin will release a new story telling more of the history of the Targaryens in a new book called ‘Rogues’ set to debut on June 17….
While fans are still waiting for George R.R. Martin to put the finishes touches on the sixth book in the ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ series titled ‘The Winds of Winter’, he will make available in June yet another new story from the world of Westeros called ‘The Rogue Prince, or the King’s Brother’.
This is all for part of a new book called ‘Rogues’, which also features stories from Joe Abercrombie and Neil Gaiman along with Martin’s contribution for the novel. The anthology books comes on the heels of another project Martin worked on last year called ‘Dangerous Women’, where he worked on a story telling the backstory of the Targaryen civil war called ‘The Princess and The Queen, or, The Blacks and The Greens’.
For this book, Martin’s submission will focus on another part of the Targaryen history in Westeros actually going further back than the stories told in the first anthology story.
“We’ve dipped back into the archmaester’s somewhat disorganized piles of scrolls and crumbling manuscripts, and brought forth another piece of his unpublished history. “The Rogue Prince, or, the King’s Brother,” will tell the story of the years leading up to the calamitious events of “The Princess and the Queen” during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen, with particular attention to the role played by the king’s brother, Prince Daemon, a rogue if there ever was one,” Martin wrote in his blog.
‘Rogues’ will be released on June 17 in bookstores everywhere.
This will be another shortened version of the story he eventually intends to tell as part of a history book documenting the entire bloodline of the Targaryen family he will call ‘Fire and Blood’.
There is still no word on an official release date for ‘The Winds of Winter’ but it’s expected to hit book stores sometime in 2015.
