‘Girls’ star Adam Driver is apparently close to signing a deal where he will become the lead villain in the new ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’….
Star Wars: Episode VII will begin production later this year under a shroud of secrecy because outside of former cast members like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill returning to resume their previous roles, none of the new cast has been revealed.
The Hollywood Reporter is saying, however, that Girls star Adam Driver is close to signing a deal to become the lead villain in the upcoming Star Wars sequel directed by JJ Abrams.
Star Wars producers have only hinted at possible castings in the past, confirming meetings and interest in potential actors and actresses, but no formal announcements have been made about anyone being added.
If Driver is indeed closing his deal, this could be the first of many announcements forthcoming from Disney regarding the Star Wars franchise in the coming months.
Very little is known about Star Wars: Episode VII outside of some filming locations in London and the cast members from the original trilogy coming back for the sequel.
That means no one knows what kind of villain Driver could be playing, but a safe bet is he’s going to have loyalty to the now crumbled empire, and possibly some connection to the Sith. What we do know is this version of Star Wars has never been written or seen before so it’s likely this will be a completely new character for Driver to portray.
