‘Glee’ Star Grant Gustin Cast as The Flash in Upcoming Season of ‘Arrow’

The Flash will arrive on Arrow this season for a potential pilot and new series surrounding the Scarlet Speedster….

Barry Allen aka The Flash has a new face and name and it’s Grant Gustin.

Gustin, who is best known from his role on the popular Fox series Glee, has been cast as The Flash in the upcoming season of Arrow with a potential pilot and series resulting from the appearance.

The iconic Scarlet Speedster will appear in three episodes of the upcoming second season of Arrow — the last of which episode 20 is expected to serve as a de facto pilot for a potential Flash series on CW.

“I’m unbelievably excited. I’ve been a lifelong fan of DC Comics, so I can’t be more honored and can’t wait to get started,” Gustin said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new version of The Flash will have a unique back story and creation from the comic book character, although many elements will stay the same.

When Allen is introduced in the Arrow series he will be a forensic investigator who shows up in town looking into a strange series of robberies. It’s there that he interacts with Arrow himself Oliver Queen, and eventually The Flash emerges and his own origin story will be told.

The introduction of The Flash is a break from the past season of Arrow where there was a clear line of separation with no super powers or abilities taking place in this world. The addition of The Flash certainly changes that dynamic, but producers and writers for the show have promised to create the new character in a way that would make sense to fit on Arrow.

Arrow’s next season will debut on the CW on Oct 9.
