A world full of crossovers will be coming to the CW later this year including The Flash and Supergirl teaming up once again…
The CW will be a very interesting place come this fall when the network adds Supergirl to is already stellar lineup of DC based series that already include Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
Last season, The Flash and Supergirl did a crossover called “World’s Finest” that ended up being one of the most well received episodes of the year and chances are that dynamic will be explored again with both shows on the same network starting later this year.
The crossover episode set the precedent that Supergirl takes place on Earth-3 while The Flash takes place on Earth-1 but all of that might change considering how things ended in Central City this past season.
The Flash traveled back in time and stopped the murder of his mother, which will undoubtedly set off a cataclysm of changes to the entire DC TV universe including Supergirl. As the theory goes, The Flash changing the past may converge worlds or force massive changes to his universe, which would then allow Supergirl to participate in the same universe.
With that being said, The Flash and Supergirl definitely had a great dynamic and it’s something Grant Gustin seems interested in exploring again when both shows return this fall.
“Yeah, we had a really fun dynamic and I bet next year there’s probably more crossovers than we’ve ever had would be my guess,” Gustin said recently.
The crossover episode also showcased the chemistry between Gustin and Supergirl lead actress Melissa Benoist and there’s even a chance that relationship could be explored further as the crossovers will be plentiful this season between the four shows on the CW.
“They would be a good match,” Gustin said with a smile on his face.
There’s not much known about the crossovers or what will happen in The Flash season 3 after the events in season 2 unfolded, but Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramone, promises that the entire world is about to get turned upside down.
“Season 3 is going to start in an unexpected place,” Valdes said about what lies ahead for The Flash. “Nothing will be the same.”
The Flash season 3 will debut on Tuesday nights at 8pm while Supergirl will debut on the CW on Monday nights at 8pm this fall on the CW.
