Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie revealed earlier this week that she will reprise her role as Captain Phasma in Star Wars Episode VIII….
No one was quite sure what happened with Captain Phasma at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens other than guessing that she was at the bottom of a garbage compactor somewhere on the Starkiller Base when it exploded.
Well good news — or bad news for Finn and the Resistance — but Captain Phasma will return for Star Wars Episode VIII.
Gwendoline Christie recently revealed that she will be back for the upcoming sequel due out at on December 15, 2017 from writer/director Rian Johnson.
“I will be in the next Star Wars movie,” Christie said at the SAG Awards. “I think that’s an exclusive, actually.”
Christie was one of the most publicized actors ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens although her part ended up quite small in comparison to many of the other characters introduced in the movie. Still, Captain Phasma became the new Boba Fett for Star Wars fans with merchandise for the character becoming some of the most popular with the new installment.
Regardless of her screen time in the last movie, it looks like Christie’s Captain Phasma will be returning to terrorize the ranks of the Storm Troopers while loyally serving Kylo Ren and the First Order in Star Wars Episode VIII.
