There’s still no official title for the ‘Han Solo’ spinoff prequel but we know production is underway…
Production has officially kicked off for the highly anticipated Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ spinoff from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who will go back in time to tell the origin story behind everybody’s favorite scruffy looking nerf herder.
The new film will focus on Han Solo’s early days as a smuggler alongside his best friend Chewbacca, long before they met Ben Kenobi and Luke Skywalker at the cantina on Tattooine during ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’.
The cast for the untitled Han Solo project includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
The latest installment in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise was written by Lawrence Kasdan — best known for his work on ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, ‘Return of the Jedi’ and the most recent film ‘The Force Awakens’ — and he’s joined by his son Jon Kasdan on the project as well.
The untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is slated for release on May 25, 2018. In other words the ‘Han Solo’ feature film will hit theaters just six months after ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ is released on December 15, 2017.
