Christopher Miller and Phil Lord — best known for their work on ‘The Lego Movie’ as well as ’21 Jump Street — will direct the upcoming Star Wars spinoff focused on a young Han Solo.
The directing duo has become a hot property around Hollywood lately with their names attached to several superhero projects including ‘The Flash’ over at Warner Bros. but it appears the Star Wars spinoff will take their time instead.
Miller and Lord are helming a new Star Wars spinoff and this is not the same project that Josh Trank (Fantastic Four) was working on before he left the project earlier this year. The new film will focus on Han Solo’s early days and how he became a smuggler in the first place.
From StarWars.com
“The screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.”
The new Star Wars spinoff focusing on Han Solo is due out on May 25, 2018.
