The casting news for FOX’s upcoming show ‘Gotham‘ continues to break on almost a daily basis with the latest addition being the main antagonist for the first season.
Jada Pinkett Smith — best known for her roles in Hawthorne and two Matrix sequels — will play the role of Fish Mooney in the upcoming Batman prequel featuring James Gordon in his pre-commissioner days. TVLine.com first reported the news.
Fish Mooney is a gangster and nightclub owner who employs a low level wanna be named Oswald Cobblebot aka The Penguin.
The new series, which is getting a major push from FOX for obvious reasons, will shoot over the summer for a fall debut date. ‘Gotham‘ will follow the exploits of Gordon in a city without a Batman. The series will feature a young Bruce Wayne, but that’s one piece of casting that hasn’t been decided yet.
