Several reports have surfaced attaching actress Jena Malone to a top secret role in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but is it possibly she’s playing a female version of the Robin in the movie?
There appear to be at least a few more secrets still being held close to the vest during the filming of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
While the majority of the cast has already been announced and confirmed, it appears at least one more actress is being added in a potentially blockbuster role.
Jena Malone — best known for her roles in Donnie Darko and The Hunger Games seires — is rumored to have a top secret part in the upcoming movie from Warner Bros. and DC Comics.
The news first leaked out from a report on WILX-10 in Detroit where the film is shooting. An extra speaking on the promise of anonymity (there’s a $5 million fine for breaking a non-disclosure agreement) stated that the script had a part for a female Robin character. Robin has traditionally been a male character for most of the time in Batman, but the classic tale ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ features a girl named Carrie Kelley, who takes on the Robin disguise before teaming up with the Caped Crusader in the book.
While directed Zack Snyder hasn’t said it directly, many of the influences for his film are said to come from Frank Miller’s “Dark Knight Returns” story, which is one of the most famous in all of Batman history.
Part two of the rumor mill then involves Malone, who according to several news reports is going to have a part in Batman V. Superman, but who she will play is still unknown.
It’s easy enough to put the two together and deduce that if there is a female Robin in the movie and Malone is on set in a mystery role that she may very well be playing the part.
Nothing is confirmed yet and Warner Bros. has had no comment on the situation since the news first broke.
Like all rumors, take it with a grain of salt until it’s confirmed, but this could be yet another indication that Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be taking many of its cues from the legendary ‘Dark Knight’ story and that’s definitely not a bad thing!
