Jennifer Lawrence will star in 2016’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ but that will be the last time she’ll be painted blue as the mutant Mystique…
Jennifer Lawrence has become one of the biggest actresses in all of Hollywood in the past few years with her roles in ‘The Hunger Games’ series as well as winning an Oscar for her performance in ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. Lawrence first trip to superstardom came courtesy of the 2011 film ‘X-Men: First Class’ where she first portrayed the shape-shifting mutant Mystique (originally played by Rebecca Romjin in the earlier X-Men films). Lawrence returned for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ in 2014 and she will once again play Mystique in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ film slated for a 2016 release date, but following that film she will wrap up her arc in the series for good.
“It is my last one, yes,” Lawrence confirmed when speaking to MTV recently.
Chances are the X-Men franchise of films will carry on into the future with or without Lawrence although there’s always a chance the role of Mystique could be recast. Then again with a new crop of mutants debuting in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, the focus could easily shift to them instead. ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
