‘Jessica Jones’ will be girl powered for season 2 with all 13 episodes directed by women…
‘Jessica Jones’ season 2 will feature 13 episodes with all women directors according to show runner Melissa Rosenberg.
Rosenberg revealed the news at Transforming Hollywood 7: Diversifying Entertainment, a conference held at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
Rosenberg said she always intended to increase the number of women working on ‘Jessica Jones’ but during the early production on season 2 somebody floated the idea to have every episode directed by a woman.
Rosenberg loved the idea and Marvel was more than happy to sign off on it as well.
Rosenberg didn’t release any details about ‘Jessica Jones’ season 2 other than saying that scripts are being written currently with production on the series expected to pick up in 2017. As of now, Rosenberg didn’t name any of the directors who would be working on season 2 yet, but ‘Jessica Jones’ season one did feature a couple of prominent women in directorial roles.
S.J. Clarkson directed the first two episodes of the season and Rosemary Rodriguez directed the critically acclaimed 10th episode in the first season titled ‘AKA 1,000 Cuts’.
‘Jessica Jones’ star Krysten Ritter is expected to next appear as the character in the Marvel series ‘The Defenders’ where she will team up with Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist against a villain who will be played by Sigourney Weaver.
