For the first time in a few decades, John Travolta is returning to television after landing the read role in the new FX series ‘American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson’….
John Travolta — best known for his role in dozens of big budget films such as ‘Swordfish’ ‘Face Off’ and ‘Pulp Fiction’ — is returning to his television roots as he has signed on to star in the new FX drama ‘American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson’.
The series comes from ‘American Horror Story’ creator Ryan Murphy and will act as an anthology series with each new season (assuming it makes it past the first one) focusing on a different aspect of real life true crime in America.
The first season will focus on the celebrity trial of former NFL running back O.J. Simpson, who was accused in the mid-90’s of killing his ex-wife and her friend in a brutal bloodbath in Los Angeles.
Travolta is set to star as lead attorney Robert Shapiro where he will join Cuba Gooding Jr., who will play Simpson, and David Schwimmer, who plays co-counsel Robert Kardashian.
This is Travolta’s first major role on television since starring in ‘Welcome Back, Kotter’ in the late 1970’s.
The true crime series is set to bow on FX later this fall.
