The Harry Potter universe just landed another A-list star.
Johnny Depp has joined the upcoming sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ but he is also expected to make a cameo appearance in the first film due out on November 18.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ follows magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he travels to the United States with his case full of magical creatures, which accidentally opens up and lets out many of the beasts that were once locked inside.
The sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ has already been slated for a November 16, 2018 release date.
There’s no word on the character Depp will play but considering it’s being kept under wraps, a possible clue may have been leaked out on Tuesday. A video posted by Warner Bros. featuring narration by co-star Ezra Miller where he talked about a famous dark wizard named Gellert Grindelwald — the most infamous dark wizard until Voldemort eventually came along.
Could Depp be playing Grindelwald in the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff films? Depp hasn’t played a villain very often during his career, but a chance to play a role like this one that could stretch out over five movies could be another huge franchise to add to his resume.
