Daredevil and Jessica Jones get lead writers and showrunners to head up the new Netflix series landed in 2015…
Marvel has wasted no time finding the first two writers to lead their new Netflix series and they’ve landed some big names to boot.
First up is Joss Whedon disciple Drew Goddard, who will head up Daredevil for the new series plotted for a 2015 release date. Goddard has worked on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as Lost in the past, so he’s a heavy hitter when it comes to television work not to mention his brilliantly crafted horror/comedy Cabin in the Woods.
Goddard will lead Daredevil’s writing team while the person responsible for all five Twilight movies will take over another Marvel series.
Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote Twilight as well as working on The O.C. and Dexter, will take over the reigns for the newly announced series for Jessica Jones.
The superhero turned detective story will join Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage on Netflix in two years time as Marvel makes a push into more serialized television shows like they did with Agents of SHIELD on ABC.
There has been no word from Marvel or Netflix who will head up the remaining two series, although both should happen in the coming days given the speed they hired both Goddard and Rosenberg.
