With nearly three hours of film there’s a lot packed into ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ but one person who got cut out was Loki….
If you’ve seen ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ this story will make perfect sense to you and if you haven’t seen the movie, don’t worry there aren’t any plot spoilers here either.
When Joss Whedon started to assemble the massive cast of characters needed for his ambitious follow up to the 2012 smash hit ‘The Avengers’, he knew it was going to take just the right amount of moving parts to make it work.
From The Avengers themselves, a team which seems to grow with each film, to the guest stars from all of the individual movies that begin to pop up in the major event films like this sequel — there’s only so much room!
Whedon explains that he actually filmed something with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, who was the breakout star from his original Avengers movie, but when it came down to the final cut, his part just seemed out of place.
“We did shoot something, but it didn’t play,” Whedon told MTV. “The movie has so much. It’s so filled. We didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus.”
So Loki fans will have to wait until Thor 3 aka Thor: Ragnarok comes out on July 28, 2017 to see their favorite mischievous Asgardian pop up again. Unless Whedon decides to release a ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ director’s cut first (please!).
