The final line up for the new Justice League movie has been confirmed plus the first reveal of the new Green Lantern Corps film as well…
Tuesday night marked a big moment for the DC Universe at Warner Bros. as DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns revealed the full line up for the new Justice League that will be featured in the film due out in November 2017.
Johns confirmed the initial line up along with the actors who will be portraying each of the parts. Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
From the sound of things, all of the characters’ origin stories will be kept largely the same from the comic books although both The Flash and Cyborg will really get their first introduction in the actual Justice League movie. Aquaman will appear (albeit briefly) in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice due out March 25 along with Wonder Woman, who has a larger part in the film as well as her own solo movie due out in 2017 as well.
From there, Johns moved from the announcement of the Justice League to the addition of another huge part of the DC Universe that will eventually debut on screen when the Green Lantern Corps arrive a few years down the road.
“We’ve been to the bottom of the ocean. We’ve been to ancient Greek mythology, we’ve been to the past and future with the Flash, we’ve been to the digital world with Cyborg. We still got to go to space,” Johns teased.
“So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps are coming to join the Justice League universe.”
Now from the sound of things, it doesn’t appear based on the concept art that was shown during the special that the Green Lantern Corps — Hal Jordan or anyone else for that matter — will be part of the Justice League movie but that could just be a hoax until the movie arrives.
What we do know for sure now is that the Green Lantern Corps will be the focus on the stand alone movie rather than just a film centered on the most famous Green Lantern of them all, Hal Jordan.
Judging by the interviews and art shown during the 30 minute special, Zack Snyder and the rest of the creative team at Warner Bros and DC have mapped out a pretty extensive universe that will really start to unfold during Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
