Katee Sackhoff hasn’t starred in a superhero film to date, but if she landed a role she wouldn’t want to play a hero at all…
Actress Katee Sackhoff has had more than her fair share of memorable roles.
She’s most famously known for her part in the Battlestar Galactica reboot where she played Starbuck, as well as her role opposite Jack Bauer himself on 24. She’s currently kicking ass in the A&E series Longmire and has a role in the upcoming film Riddick coming out in September.
In other words, Katee Sackhoff never slows down.
But throughout her illustrious career one role Sackhoff has never taken on is playing in a superhero movie (although she could probably take most of the current crop wearing capes these days).
In a recent interview with Esquire Magazine, Sackhoff is asked if she could play one superhero role what would it be, and her answer wasn’t a hero at all.
I love Harley Quinn. I do. I just love it. It’s not been done before. It’s this fantastic mix. I mean, it’s like the female Joker. Who wouldn’t want to do that? Quite potentially — it’s not around so I wouldn’t feel the weight of it — I’d probably sell my first born at this point to do that.
Joker’s lovable sociopathic sidekick hasn’t appeared in any of the Batman films to this point, and with a new Batman/Superman film on the horizon, it’s quite possible Harley Quinn could make an appearance.
Sackhoff would almost certainly do a fantastic job as the Joker’s playmate, and she’s definitely got the chops to pull off cute but psychotic.
A couple of interesting notes about the character of Harley Quinn — she was actually created in the Batman Animated Series in 1992. She was later adapted as a character in the DC Comics Universe.
Another interesting fact—director Kevin Smith named his only child after the character—her name is Harley Quinn Smith.
