Katee Sackhoff has signed on to star in another Mike Flanagan horror film while rumors about a potential Marvel role are still swirling…
Actress Katee Sackhoff maybe enjoying a little down time away from her A&E series Longmire, but she’s certainly not slowing down with new movie gigs.
Fresh off of winning the box office weekend as part of the cast of Riddick, Sackhoff has now confirmed another role in the upcoming Mike Flanagan led horror movie project called Somnia.
Sackhoff already worked with Flanagan on a project about to be released in theaters called Oculus, and she will now take a part in his next film as well.
The premise of Somnia is listed below:
Somnia is described as a haunting, emotionally absorbing horror film about an orphaned child whose dreams — and nightmares — manifest physically as he sleeps. The film explores the enduring bonds between parent and child and is punctuated by sequences of intense, visceral terror that only a child’s imagination could conjure
Sackhoff and Flanagan’s last work together in Oculus where it will debut for the first time at the Toronto Film Festival next week.
In addition to her confirmed role in Somnia, rumors continue to persist that Sackhoff may take the lead in a new Marvel project in 2014 surrounding the character of Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel has become a major player in the Marvel Universe lately in terms of the comic books, and has a featured role in the current summer event series Infinity written by Jonathan Hickman.
The popularity of the character could easily spiral into a film series of the same name, as well as possibly introduce Captain Marvel as a part of The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, which begins filming in 2014.
Sackhoff’s name has been rumored for the part for the past week, but as of yet no confirmation has been given if she has landed a role with the Marvel Universe series of films.
