Kevin Smith is going back to the mall y’all for a sequel to his cult classic ‘Mallrats’ with the second film now titled ‘Mallbrats’…
Kevin Smith officially finished his script to ‘Mallrats 2’ this week with a new title for the upcoming sequel now called ‘MallBrats’.
The film follows up on the 1995 film ‘Mallrats’ that Smith wrote and directed that remains a comedy cult classic to this day and now 20 years later he’s going back to the mall again.

Smith’s message — ‘This is for you, Jim’ — is reference to his friend and ‘Mallrats’ producer Jim Jacks, who died last year. Jacks had long championed a ‘Mallrats’ sequel but Smith never contemplated doing it until just recently.
‘MallBrats’ will reunite Smith with much of the original cast from the first movie with Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Jason Lee, Claire Forlani, Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Mewes, Ethan Suplee, Stan Lee, Michael Rooker as well as Smith himself all returning to the sequel.
Smith has stayed tight lipped on a few more cast members he hopes to add to the list along with several new faces that will likely join the film as well (hence the ‘brats’ part of the title). The only major name not confirmed to return to ‘MallBrats’ currently is Ben Affleck although Smith has said he hasn’t given up hope on bringing his old friend back for one more movie together.
Smith has finished the script for ‘MallBrats’ but the movie won’t go into production for quite some time. Smith just recently finished filming his next movie titled ‘Yoga Hosers’, which stars his daughter Harley Quinn Smith as well as Johnny Depp and his daughter. He is then planning to start production on ‘Clerks 3’ later this year before filming another horror film titled ‘Moose Jaws’ which is exactly what it sounds like — ‘Jaws’ with a moose.
From there Smith will finally begin work on ‘MallBrats’ but as of now he hasn’t announced an expected start date for the film production.
