The long awaited third sequel to Clerks will finally get underway midway through 2015 as Kevin Smith revealed on Thursday…
Writer/director Kevin Smith has been plenty busy lately between his multitude of podcasts as well as getting back into the director’s chair for “Tusk” as well as his current movie “Yoga Hosers”, which he started filming several weeks ago.
Both of those movies are in the horror genre and Smith plans on capping it all off with a third movie titled “Moose Jaws” that will close out his Canadian based trilogy of films, but the New Jersey native has not forgotten his roots.
Following a long negotiation process and timing issues, it appears Smith is ready to begin work on “Clerks 3” next year.
“MOOSE JAWS will close out the True North Trilogy that began with TUSK, continues in YOGA HOSERS and ends with MOOSE JAWS. It’s very simply JAWS with a moose. Set at a summer camp. Robert Kurtzman building giant man-eating moose. CLERKS III looking like June,” Smith said on his Reddit AMA
Smith has openly discussed the rough go he had with Tusk when it opened in theaters a few weeks back. The good news was despite Tusk falling short at the box office, the right people watched it and immediately he had funding available for Clerks 3.
The film will close the loop on the first movie Smith ever made as a directly all the way back in 1994. Clerks was hailed as not only a huge achievement in film making (he made it for under $28,000) but it remains a cult classic to this day. The sequel Clerks 2 was another solid hit for Smith and the third movie is expected to do the same.
Smith also revealed during his Reddit AMA that he expects Rosario Dawson to return for Clerks 3 (she was also in Clerks 2) and most of the rest of the cast has already stated publicly that they are on board as well.
