The 24 saga will continue but it will go on without Jack Bauer as Kiefer Sutherland officially confirms he is out….
It doesn’t feel right saying 24 without immediately attaching the name Jack Bauer, but that’s what’s going to happen when FOX reboots the long running franchise with another limited event series in the near future.
Kiefer Sutherland — who portrayed anti-terrorism agent Jack Bauer for over a decade — has officially confirmed that he will not return for the 24 reboot even in a limited capacity as first rumored.
“24 is definitely over for me,” Sutherland told BBC. “It’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given as an actor but it’s moving on without me, I want to do other things.
“I want to do more television. My experience of 24 was unbelievable, but the main benefit was that it was nice to do something that people actually watched, and that they enjoyed.”
The new 24 reboot is expected to team up a young agent similar to Bauer teamed up with a female agent in a similar setting as the previous show. Originally, the new 24 was expected to tie into the previous show with Sutherland filling in for a few episodes as a stop-gap between the two series.
Now it appears 24 will move forward without the man who became synonymous with the series since it first launched in 2001.
