Kit Harington lets a little bit of information loose that might be a massive spoiler for Game of Thrones season 6….
Potential spoilers ahead so read at your own risk!
At the end of Game of Thrones season 5, Jon Snow was laying on the ground, barely clinging onto life after his brothers in the Night’s Watch took turns stabbing him in Julius Caesar-esque execution in the middle of the courtyard at Castle Black.
While the sworn protectors of the Wall all said they were doing it ‘for the watch’, it was still a sad scene to see Jon Snow falter and fall to the ground as his stab wounds bled out and he seemingly died there all alone.
But immediately after the screen faded to black, fans and journalists (like myself) immediately rose up to say there was no way Jon Snow was actually going to die in that manner at the end of season 5.
Kit Harington protested and promised his character was dead and even went as far as telling the story about his last days on set. Game of Thrones producers went through the motions to say that Jon Snow was dead and not coming back.
It didn’t take long, however, for Game of Thrones season 6 to begin filming and suddenly Harington was popping up all over the place in the exact same locations where the show is shot.
Now Harington has taken it one step further by virtually confirming his participation in at least a few more seasons of Game of Thrones, presumably starting with season 6 in 2016.
“I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to Game of Thrones. So the show is like a double-edged sword to me. I owe a lot to it, but at the same time it has almost completely drained me. Oh well, I try not to think about it too much. The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract,” Harington said.
“I can’t talk about (how many seasons). Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my 30’s when it’s over. One thing’s for sure — the day I’m no longer on Thrones is the day I’ll bury myself in movie projects.”
For those keeping score at home, Harington is 28 years old and won’t turn 29 until December after Game of Thrones season 6 is almost wrapped up with filming.
Judging by his statement, Harington is not only returning for season 6, but if he’s going to be there into his 30’s then that probably means the rest of the series (considering Game of Thrones is likely going to wrap up after 8 seasons).
Take everything with a grain of salt of course, but given Harington’s latest interview it appears Jon Snow will see Westeros again one day very soon.
