The on again, off again saga of Quentin Tarantino’s latest film appears to be on again according to actor Kurt Russell, who is set to star in the movie…
Quentin Tarantino’s next movie ‘The Hateful Eight’ appeared dead on arrival after a Hollywood agent (and we’re looking at you!) decided to leak out the script to the film, which of course enraged the writer/director because secrecy is a big part of the allure of watching one of his movies. You’re never quite sure where a Tarantino film is going, but you know the ride to get there is gonna be awesome.
Well, following a one-night special table read where Tarantino invited a huge chunk of his favorite actors and actresses to play the parts in ‘The Hateful Eight’ he started to reconsider the possibility of making the movie.
Now it appears that will be come reality according to Kurt Russell, who read for one of the parts of ‘The Hateful Eight’ back at that table read, and has starred in a past Tarantino movie of his own (criminally underrated film ‘Death Proof’).
In an interview this week, Russell said shooting the Tarantino movie is on his agenda of things to do in 2015 so while it’s not set in stone, it seems the filmmaker is ready to bring ‘The Hateful Eight’ to life after all.
“There’s a Tarantino project called Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year,” Russell said.
Good news for Tarantino fans who wondered if the writer/director would ever return to the material after promising to scrap the project all together in favor of writing another script in the future to replace this one. ‘The Hateful Eight’ would mark Tarantino’s second Western film in a row following 2012’s Oscar winning feature ‘Django Unchained’.
