The cult classic Labyrinth is getting sequelized at Tri-Star with one of the writers behind Guardians of the Galaxy penning the script …
Labyrinth — the 1986 cult classic starring David Bowie — is getting a sequel.
Yes, seriously.
The original film directed by Jim Henson that starred Bowie as ‘The Goblin King’ as well as Jennifer Connelly has been picked up by Tri-Star with a reboot/sequel planned and a script written by Guardians of the Galaxy co-author Nicole Perlman.
The movie follows a young girl’s journey into a mystical land where he little brother has been kidnapped and held captive by Jareth, the Goblin King.
The original release at the box office was considered a bomb and Labyrinth marked the last time Jim Henson directed a feature film. Years later, however, Labyrinth became a cult classic with fans and remains a beloved favorite to this day.
And now someone in Hollywood had the bright idea to produce a sequel of it just a couple of weeks after Bowie passed.
A collective sigh from the peanut gallery.
