Lucy Griffiths — best known for her work in ‘True Blood’ as well as a here today, gone tomorrow stint on NBC’s ‘Constantine — has signed on to star in AMC’s new series ‘Preacher’ based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon
Griffiths will play a character created specifically for the TV series and now from the comic books named Emily Woodrow, a no-nonsense single mother of three. Emily’s a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse’s loyal right hand. Stoic and strong, wise beyond her years, she can’t help but have a little thing for Preacher Jesse.
‘Preacher’ follows the story of Jesse Custer, a small town reverend who ends up joining forces with a symbiote known as Genesis, which is the combined spirit of both angel and demon before he joins up with his ex-girlfriend Tulip and his vampire pal Cassidy as they go on a nationwide hunt to search for God.
The only major role not already cast is Jesse Custer, but rumors have swirled that ‘Agent Carter’ star Dominic Cooper is in talks for the part.
