When Luke Skywalker gives you a ringing endorsement then you must be doing pretty well for yourself because he says the new cast for Star Wars: Episode VII will carry the franchise just fine….
Mark Hamill rejoins his previous castmates from the Star Wars saga in the new sequel ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ but he also meets a whole new cast for the upcoming series directed by J.J. Abrams.
Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher all signed up for the new Star Wars movie along with several other key actors from the previous trilogy that ran from 1977 to 1983. In addition to the classic actors and actresses announced for the cast, the newest members of the Star Wars family were also introduced this week including ‘Girls’ Adam Driver and Oscar Isaacs from ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’.
Hamill took to Twitter this week to express words of support for the new cast after doing a table read with everybody in the United Kingdom. The new Star Wars movie is filming in London with principle photography expected to kick off in May.
UK table read- I was knocked out by the diverse & extraordinarily talented new cast members. WOW they're good! The saga is in superb hands.

It’s unclear how big or small Hamill’s role will be in the new Star Wars franchise, but he should have a sizable part in at least the first of the new trilogy of films. When last we saw Luke Skywalker, he was celebrating a victory over the Galactic Empire having become a full fledged Jedi knight. Although maybe we’re reading too much into his Tweet, but when he says ‘the saga is in superb hands’ it’s almost as if he’s using this as a swan song.
Is there a chance Luke Skywalker joins Yoda, Obi-Wan and many of the other Jedis in Star Wars: Episode VII?
The only way to know for sure is to see the movie when it opens on December 18, 2015.
