Marvel announced a few new sequels on Tuesday including the highly anticipated Captain America 3: Civil War movie….
Phase 3 of the Marvel Universe of films was unveiled on Tuesday with a huge list of movies being announced.
While the upcoming Avengers sequels may be the ‘super’ movies of the bunch, the excitement surrounding “Captain America 3: Civil War” shouldn’t be far behind.
The movie will be released on May 6, 2016 and will focus on the battle between Captain America Steve Rogers and Iron Man aka Tony Stark after the government tries to get all of the superheroes living in the United States to unmask and register their real identities. This causes a huge rift in the superhero community with one side falling with Captain America and the other with Iron Man.
Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to reprise his Iron Man role for the upcoming film as well as Chris Evans, who will of course play Captain America. Chadwick Boseman will also play a major part in the film as Black Panther prior to his own film coming out in 2017.
In addition to the new “Captain America 3: Civil War” film being released, Marvel also confirmed “Thor 3: Ragnarok”, which will be released on July 28, 2017. The word Ragnarok means “the end of all things” and the movie will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor and will also see the return of Tom Hiddleston as his half brother, Loki.
The third film confirmed on Tuesday is a sequel to the hottest film of 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be directed by James Gunn once again and will open on May 5, 2017. More details about the script and casting to come after Gunn returns home from a recent press tour in Japan.
