The highly anticipated comic book movie Ant-Man headed up by Edgar Wright will land in theaters sooner than expected….
Marvel announced plans on Monday to shift the release date for Ant-Man from the original date of November 6, 2015 all the way up to July 31, 2015 instead.
The new plan will land Ant-Man in a very busy and very crowded summer schedule in 2015 for major film releases including Marvel’s The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, which opens up on May 1, 2015. The other film that Ant-Man will now content with is the upcoming Man of Steel 2 sequel featuring Superman and Batman that opens on July 17, 2015.
There is also another small film called Star Wars: Episode VII that’s expected to drop in 2015, although no actual release date has been noted for that film as of yet.
Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) will direct the film based on the character from the Marvel Universe. Ant-Man’s alter ego Dr. Hank Pym is a long time member of The Avengers, but he’s not expected to appear in the upcoming sequel headed up by director/writer Joss Whedon.
Instead, Ant-Man will appear in his own film now being released in the summer of 2015.
