Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’ has now been confirmed for an 8 episode special season with an acclaimed director helming the first two episodes…
Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’ will see four heroes — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist — team up together to take on a common enemy played by Sigourney Weaver in the ambitious series set for Netflix in 2017.
Marvel announced on Friday that the special event series will run for eight total episodes with acclaimed director SJ Clarkson helming the first two episodes of the season.
Clarkson is already familiar with the Marvel way after directing the first two episodes of ‘Jessica Jones’ season one. Clarkson is also known for her work on ‘Vinyl’ as well as the Netflix hit series ‘Orange is the New Black’.
“S.J.’s take on the material is outstanding. We loved her work on “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” and couldn’t think of a more talented and accomplished person to helm the first two episodes of “Marvel’s The Defenders,” said Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb.
‘The Defenders’ is expected to premiere in the second half of 2017 after Marvel’s fourth solo series ‘Iron Fist’ debuts on March 17, 2017.
The show will see Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist in the series while going up against Weaver’s character, who will be the villain for the series but there’s not much else known about who she’s playing.
