The Punisher will be getting his own show on Netflix with a new series on tap at Netflix….
Rumors began swirling a few months ago that The Punisher would receive a full series order from Netflix after the character made quite an impact during Daredevil season 2.
Now it’s official.
The Punisher has been ordered to series on Netflix according to Entertainment Weekly with Jon Bernthal slated to reprise his role as The Punisher/Frank Castle in the upcoming show.
The Punisher becomes the sixth series order from Marvel for Netflix following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the upcoming team up series The Defenders.
Steve Lightfoot, best known for his work on Hannibal, will serve as the show runner for the new Punisher series.
Bernthal has been applauded for his portrayal of The Punisher during Daredevil season 2 with comic book fans and TV watchers alike all agreeing that he’s been the best incarnation of the character yet.
Now Bernthal will carry out his vigilante brand of justice as part of the new Punisher series headed to Netflix.
There’s no word on when The Punisher would debut but given the popularity gained from the previous season of Daredevil, it’s hard to imagine the show being delayed past 2017.
