Get ready to jump in line all over again because Michael Keeton is talking to director Tim Burton about a sequel to the 1988 cult classic Beetlejuice…
In 1988, director Tim Burton unleashed ‘Beetlejuice‘ on the world and more than 20 years later the ghost with the most is still haunting cult collections the world over.
The movie is still one of Burton’s most beloved creations and apparently there is renewed interest in creating a sequel to the movie with much of the original cast willing to come back and star in the sequel.
Michael Keaton, who is doing press right now for his new movie Robocop, told MTV that he has actually talked to Burton about the project and it sounds like both are very interested in moving forward with Beetlejuice 2.
“I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff until relatively recently,” Keaton said. “I always said that (Beetlejuice) is the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another. Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away, we’ve talked to each other, and emailed each other, and if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.”
Actress Winona Ryder has also stated recently that she would be interested in reliving the part of troubled teen Lydia Deets in a new Beetlejuice movie and if Burton is also attached it appears to be full steam ahead for the project.
Obviously nothing in Hollywood is a done deal until it’s signed and in production, but it appears at least the major players involved are all interested in coming back for more Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!
