Wolverine will have his hands full with an iconic X-Men villain when Mister Sinister shows up in the third solo film featuring Hugh Jackman for the last time…
There’s still a lot of secrecy surrounding the upcoming ‘Wolverine 3’ film starring Hugh Jackman as the popular character from the X-Men for the last time. One big piece of the puzzle was finally revealed as iconic villain Mister Sinister is expected to appear as one of the featured bad guys in the upcoming movie.
The news was revealed via the audio commentary track on ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ when director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinsberg talked through the post credits scene from the movie where a vile of blood belonging to Weapon X aka Wolverine is placed in a briefcase with the name “Essex Corporation” stamped on the outside.
That name is synonymous with Nathaniel Essex — a 19th century biologist who is obsessed with evolution and genetics — better known in the Marvel Universe as Mister Sinister.
Mister Sinister has been a featured villain in the X-Men comics for years, but he’s never appeared in any of the film versions of the characters on the big screen. It looks like he’ll finally show up in the ‘Wolverine’ sequel that’s expected to focus on an older version of the character as he teams up with Charles Xavier one last time before both Jackman and Patrick Stewart walk away from the series for good.
There have been rumors that Richard E. Grant — who was most recently seen in ‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 — may be playing Mister Sinister after he was casted as a ‘mad scientist’ in the movie with no other description for his character.
Whoever ends up playing the role, Mister Sinister has always been a thorn in the side of the X-Men and it looks like he’ll play that part again when he goes up against Wolverine in the new movie due out in 2017.
