The finale for the freshman season of Mr. Robot will wait a week after USA executives decided to postpone the show in the wake of the tragedy in Virginia….
USA Network has decided to push back the season 1 finale of freshman hit Mr. Robot after a shooting took place in Virginia on Wednesday with a similar tone to what happens in the episode.
Mr. Robot has been a breakout hit for USA and was already renewed for season 2 earlier this year, but the finale this season apparently contains a scene that lands a little too close to home after what happened in Virginia on Tuesday.
“The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” USA Network executives said in a statement. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”
The tragedy occurred earlier on Tuesday when 24-year old Alison Parker and 27-year old cameraman Adam Ward of CBS affiliate WDBJ in Virginia were gunned down by a former co-worker named Bryce Williams. Parker and Ward both died along with the Williams, who turned the gun on himself after police chased him down following the scene of the shooting.
The season one finale of Mr. Robot will now air next Wednesday night, September 2 at 10pm ET on USA.
