Neil deGrasse Tyson — who we like to call the baddest man on the planet — is getting his own late night talk show on Nat Geo in April…
Following the success of ‘Cosmos’ on FOX, the star power behind astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is at an all time high so Nat Geo is cashing in with a new late night talk show based on the scientist’s popular podcast.
The series will be called ‘Star Talk’ and it features celebrity interviews, science and pop culture all rolled into one spectacular show hosted by Tyson that will debut on the cable network in April.
“Cosmos allowed us to share the awesome power of the universe with a global audience in ways that we never thought possible,” Tyson said on Wednesday. “To be able to continue to spread wonder and excitement through Star Talk, which is a true passion project for me, is beyond exciting. And National Geographic Channel is the perfect home as we continue to explore the universe.”
Tyson’s long running podcast of the same name is one of the most popular shows on iTunes and now he’ll bring a similar format to Nat Geo in a new once a week series that will feature many of the same concepts as his current show.
Tyson also has plans for his good friend Bill Nye aka The Science Guy aka another bad motherfucker to have a one-minute rant during every episode of the show where he can talk about any number of subjects he chooses.
The series will be shot in front of a live studio audience at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City, which is the same place Tyson calls home.
Keep an eye out for more details on Star Talk as the series draws nearer.
