In the trailer for the upcoming film Her, Joaquin Phoenix plays a lonely writer who soon finds love on his computer…no literally with his computer
I’ve probably said the words “I love my Macbook Pro” about a million times, but it was always the metaphorical love that you feel for an inanimate object.
It’s the same way someone says how much they love their car or that special t-shirt that fits and feels just right out of the wash (think of Golden Boy on Seinfeld)
There’s a new film coming out from director Spike Jonze starring Joaquin Phoenix and the voice of Scarlett Johansson titled Her which follows a lonely man’s journey as he falls in love with his computer.
Now it sounds just this side of creepy without seeing the trailer, and after seeing it you might feel even more creeped out, but there’s something magical about this that just makes me and I assume everyone else want to go see this when it’s released.
The teaser about the movie states this:
“A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly-purchased operating system that’s designed to meet his every need.”
With the advancements of artificial intelligence and technology about to be released on the iPhone with fingerprint recognition, the ability to make a computer like this probably isn’t that far off.
Maybe one day everyone will have their own Her computer but for now check out the trailer for the new film set for release on November 20.
