The casting whirlwind of 2014 continues with a new actor being added as a villain to Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2: Age of Ultron….
Joss Whedon’s The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron will begin production in just a few months, but there are still a few cast members to add to the role call and the latest person confirmed will play a villain in the upcoming movie.
Thomas Kretschmann — currently seen as Abraham Van Helsing in NBC’s Dracula — has been confirmed for the cast of The Avengers 2 according to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.
Kretschmann’s role is still unconfirmed, but all sources have stated that he will be playing famed Marvel villain Baron Von Strucker — a formidable HYDRA agent who goes head to head with Captain America and Nick Fury in the comic books.
The real big bad in The Avengers 2 remains with it’s titled villain Ultron, a sentient robot killing machine trying to wipe humanity off the face of the Earth who is voiced by ‘Blacklist‘ actor James Spader.
Von Strucker could appear as an early spoil to help bring The Avengers back together in the opening moments of the movie, or he could play a larger role in future films as HYDRA comes back to life after last being seen in the first Captain America movie.
For now let the speculation begin as The Avengers 2 gets underway with filming later this year.
