The original French horror series The Returned aka Les Revenants is finally set to return in the Fall of 2015….
When The Returned originally debuted on French TV in 2012 and then subsequently came to the United States by way of the Sundance Channel in 2013, it was hailed as a critical and commercial masterpiece.
The story of a small mountainside town in France where dead people start popping back up but they aren’t zombies — instead they are just waking up from the exact moment they died while trying to re-enter their lives.
The eerie series was an immediate hit but following the first season there were no signs of when a second season might actually happen.
In the interim, A&E attempted to re-imagine the show for an American version that didn’t come close to recreating the creepy ambience of the original and the reboot was cancelled after only one season.
Now the original The Returned is finally set to come back later this year after a teaser was sent out on Twitter on Wednesday.

Now for those of you that might be hesitant to watch this series because of subtitles or maybe because the American version soured you, don’t worry — the original is a thousand times better and well worth the extra reading. The Returned was named one of the best new shows in 2013 and chances are this will be another can’t miss season.
