Marvel has been the picture of consistency over the last few years when it came to movies, but the biggest crack in their armor has shown to be the upcoming ‘Ant-Man’ movie….
When director Edgar Wright exited an ‘Ant-Man’ project he had been developing at Marvel for the past few years, it was clear that someone wasn’t happy with the progression of that project.
A new director was hired along with a new writer, but the core cast remained — Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly — but during San Diego Comic Con weekend it was revealed that Patrick Wilson and two other actors didn’t end up sticking around for the upcoming movie expected to be released in 2015.
Wilson — who played a part in another iconic comic book film ‘The Watchmen’ — left the project recently while the studio says it came down to a scheduling conflict between filming and his availability.
Also out of ‘Ant-Man’ are Matt Gerard and Kevin Weisman, who had much smaller parts than Wilson, but are gone nonetheless.
‘Ant-Man’ is expected to have some kind of presence at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday during the annual Marvel panel, but how many questions will be answered about this dysfunctional film remains unknown until tomorrow.
