Director Patty Jenkins has confirmed that actress Kristen Wiig has officially joined the cast for ‘Wonder Woman 2’…

With production on ‘Wonder Woman 2’ expected to kick off later this year, the princess of Themyscira has a new villain to go up against in the sequel.

Actress and comedian Kristen Wiig has officially joined the cast for the highly anticipated sequel starring Gal Gadot from Warner Bros. and DC. ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins confirmed the news via Twitter.

So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can't wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot pic.twitter.com/Gn0jICiIAH

As previously reported, Wiig will play Cheetah, one of the most classic villains to oppose Wonder Woman in the comics. The character has undergone numerous origin stories in the past so it’s impossible to know exactly which iteration will end up in the sequel but we do know that ‘Wonder Woman 2’ takes place in the 1980’s during the height of the Cold War between the United States and Russia.

Earlier this week when Wiig was first rumored to play the role of Cheetah in ‘Wonder Woman 2’, prolific artist Boss Logic did a mock up of what she might look like as the villainess in the upcoming sequel.
