There will be a new doctor soon as Peter Capaldi is officially stepping down as ‘Doctor Who’…
Peter Capaldi will officially step down as the 12th ‘Doctor Who’ later this year during the Christmas special episode.
Capaldi made the surprising announcement on Monday on BBC radio.
“One of the greatest privileges of being Doctor Who is to see the world at its best,” Capaldi said. “From our brilliant crew and creative team working for the best broadcaster on the planet, to the viewers and fans whose endless creativity, generosity and inclusiveness points to a brighter future ahead.
“I can’t thank everyone enough. It’s been cosmic.”
Capaldi took over for Matt Smith in 2013 and is now set to leave the Tardis behind at the end of 2017 as he exits the role at the same time as ‘Doctor Who’ show runner Steven Moffat.
Just like in past years, ‘Doctor Who’ will now begin the search for the 13th doctor to take over the role from Capaldi with the actor or actress stepping into the role during the Christmas special later this year.
