Following a controversial move that saw Otto Octavius take over Peter Parker’s body and become Spider-Man, the original web slinger will return in full form this April…
Dan Slott shook the Marvel Universe to its core in 2012 when he decided to ‘kill’ Peter Parker by replacing his mind with that of Dr. Octopus aka Otto Octavius. As his own cancer ridden body was wasting away, Octavius saved himself by transplanting his consciousness into Parker’s body thus pushing him out once and for all.
Since that time, Slott has been writing the series ‘The Superior Spider-Man’, which has taken home several awards for bold story telling and a brave new direction for a Spider-Man not afraid to get his hands dirty when facing the biggest criminals in New York City.
It will all come to an end, however, in April as Marvel relaunches the iconic brand ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ with issue No. 1 hitting store shelves as Parker regains his body and mind and gets rid of Octavius.
“I’ve been a Spider-Man fan since I was eight years old. Of COURSE I want to see Peter back! He is the one, true Spider-Man,” Slott said in a press release.
The return of Peter Parker was inevitable because no superhero ACTUALLY stays dead and gone, but the timing of his return is at least a little bit suspicious given another major event taking place in just about a month after this book is released.
Yep, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will hit theaters on May 2 and despite Marvel, Slott and everyone else involved saying this was planned all along, the fact that Parker is returning in April just a few weeks before the movie is released does cause a few eyebrows to be raised.
Either way, Peter Parker is coming back and now the question becomes how does he make his triumphant return and what happens to the Superior Spider Man? Those questions will be answered in April
