Marvel will add a second TV series to ABC this year when ‘Agent Carter’ debuts alongside season 2 of ‘Agents of SHIELD’ and now there are details about the upcoming show…
Everyone remembers Agent Peggy Carter from ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ but now Hayley Atwell, who played Carter in the movie, will be getting her own headline series titled ‘Agent Carter’ from Marvel and ABC this fall.
The details surrounding the series were sketchy at first, only revealing that the show would be set in the 1940’s after Steve Rogers aka Captain America was lost during his mission to stop HYDRA and the Red Skull.
Now Marvel has released a full plot synopsis for the upcoming series, including the revelation that Tony Stark’s father, Howard Stark, will be an integral part of the show.
“It’s 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing admin work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers.”
In the Captain America film, Dominic Cooper portrayed Stark, but it’s unknown at this time if he will be involved with the Agent Carter series or not.
One other piece of information stuck in during this update about the Marvel cinematic universe is the continuity of all the films and TV shows currently in production. One of the keystones of the Marvel series of films lately has been the fact that all of the stories intertwine with each other and keep the same continuity throughout all of the different mediums.
That apparently will also be the case for ‘Agent Carter’ as Marvel teased continuity and details about other films and shows can exist “even if one of those projects say took place in the past”.
So it looks like ‘Agent Carter’ will drop in a few Easter eggs of information that could hold relevance to future Marvel projects and films.
