In 2021, the “Ghostbusters” franchise was revived with the film “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which was directed and co-written by Jason Reitman — the son of original “Ghostbusters” director Ivan Reitman.
Even while they were in the midst of filming, Reitman and his co-writer Gil Kenan were already beginning to theorize about continuing the story and bringing the sequel back to New York where it all began.
The first film back focused on a broken family being put back together with the latest sequel centered around that family not only working together but the unique situation of starting a business that involves ghostbusting.
But when an ancient god that’s been locked away for centuries gets released with plans to lock the world away in a new ice age, the reunited Spengler family along with some familiar faces from the past team up to once again save the day…
