Even before “The Nun” was released in 2018, Conjuring universe architect James Wan was already discussing the possibility about an idea he had for the sequel that would continue the story about the demon nun Valak and the eventual ties to Lorraine Warren in the larger story happening in the films.
Akela Cooper, who also teamed with Wan on the recent film ‘M3GAN’ signed onto develop the script with Michael Chaves, who was previously at the helm for two other films in The Conjuring Universe, came on as the director.
The sequel takes place four years after the original film with Sister Irene traveling to France where a priest was just murdered and an evil but familiar presence is starting to spread.
