After weeks of speculation, Dominic Cooper has officially been cast as Jesse Custer in the AMC pilot for ‘Preacher’…
Dominic Cooper — best known for playing Howard Stark in several Marvel films and TV shows including ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘Agent Carter’ — has been cast as Jesse Custer in the highly anticipated pilot ‘Preacher’ from AMC.
‘Preacher’ tells the story of small town pastor Jesse Custer, who joins forces with a creature known as ‘Genesis’ which possesses both the power of an angel and a demon, which gives him the ability to make anyone do anything he asks. Because of the unholy alliance of good and evil, God abandons his throne and Custer goes on a mission along with his ex-girlfriend Tulip and a hard drinking vampire named Cassidey to find God.
Cooper has been circling the role for weeks while negotiating for the part and now he’s officially set to play Custer in the pilot that will be produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
Also added to the cast on Friday was Elizabeth Perkins — best known for her role in ‘Weeds’ — as she joins the show to play Vyla Quinncannon, the formidable owner of a local slaughterhouse.
‘Preacher’ will go into production later this year before AMC makes the call on whether or not the show will make it to series. AT this point, it seems almost inevitable that ‘Preacher’ will get a full season order from AMC.
